VENUE & DATE: Phillip Swimming & Ice Skating Centre, Saturday 28th of July 2012
LAST TIME: 14/7/12 Blue Tongues 5 def. Knights 1 at Iceworld, Brisbane
WHAT’S WHAT: Playing each other earlier this month, both sides will know what to expect when they meet in the nation’s capital on Saturday evening. The Knights, despite being unable to string a bunch of wins together have managed to remain positive and fight all the way through their games.
Before their 5-1 victory against the Knights, the Blue Tongues had been experiencing somewhat of a form slump of their own. Whether that victory will be the start of a turn around for the Queensland club is yet to be seen, however it is definitely a step in the right direction.
WHO’S HOT: As far as points scoring goes, the Knights have relied on a handful of players to get the job done up front this season. This is not necessarily a bad thing as players like Nic Polaski has continued to shine in a team that is only able to boast a solitary regulation win. Polaski, along with his line mate Lucas Schott have provided many highlights both home and away for the Knights faithful and will look to so the same on Saturday night.
The Blue Tongues have recently welcomed back star net minder Anthony Kimlin to the fold after his lengthy spell out of the game with a torn ligament in his ankle. Although Kimlin has not made many appearances in the 2012 AIHL season, his performances in those that he has dressed leaves him still considered as one of the better goalies in the AIHL.
WE THINK: With Kimlin back in the lineup and the ever-present Mike Brown down the other end, this will be a low scoring affair and the vocal home crowd is sure to make an impact on the game. Registering just their second regulation win of the season the Knights win in a close 2-1 goalie dominated battle.
