VENUE & DATE :: 1st Dec 4:30pm and 2nd Dec 10:00am at Ice ArenA, Adelaide
LAST TIME :: These two teams haven’t met yet this season.
WHAT’S WHAT :: Adelaide have been strong so far this season, winning three out of four games. The Goannas have been less successful, showing improvements on last season but so far with no wins. This should be an exciting game, as Brisbane, with former Adrenaline star forward Tash Farrier, will be looking to step up and put a win on the board, while Adelaide will be keen to continue their winning streak.
WHO’S WHO :: While it is uncertain whether Farrier will dress this weekend, she will still play a major role in the Goannas assault, and it will be an exciting weekend regardless. The Goannas’ top scorer this season, Lisa McMahon is equal 13th on the AWIHL scoring charts. Michelle Clark-Crumpton and Melinda White have been scoring well too; all three will be pushing for Brisbane’s first win of the season.
Adelaide has four players towards the pointy end of the scoring leader board. Bethanie Kavanagh who is equal first with 10 points, has been in strong form this season and will be a key part of the Adrenaline’s attack. Sitting at fifth on the same list is Andrea Steranko, Sari Lehmann sharing 10th and Kate Tihema locked with Clark-Crumpton and White at 13th. All four are players to watch, any of them has the ability to break open a game at this level. The Adrenaline will be determined to put up two performances and improve on their current second place in the standings.
WE THINK :: Adelaide will be looking to maintain their strong form so far this season, and Brisbane will be determined to get a win, so it promises to be an exciting weekend. Judging from their performances so far, I think Adelaide with home ice advantage should have the upper hand, but never count out the underdog.
