NZIHL needs your help

After a great weekend of AIHL Finals, attention as far as the hockey world in this corner of the globe is concerned now turns to the NZIHL and their Grand Final that will take place on the 8th of September in Queenstown.  Wanting to replicate some of the success that Australian audiences have enjoyed in recent times, the NZIHL wants to stream their season ending event and they need your help.

The broadcasting of minor sports in this part of the world is not an easy or regular occurrence and so when major events come up on the calendar, many rely on internet streams to get their piece of the action.

In recent times, clubs of the AIHL have provided both audio and visual streams of their home games and the league itself has taken to streaming their Finals series as well as the TTCL, all free of charge.

The cost of running a stream like this is not as simple as it may seem and many costs soon start to pile up making it an extremely expensive operation and one that becomes hard to keep as a viable option.

This year, the NZIHL are asking for the help from their own community in the form of a pledge donation.  Running a system similar to the well known Kickstarter program, the NZIHL are asking for your kind donation ranging from small amounts to large ones, so that the word of New Zealand hockey can be spread.

What are the options? I hear you ask….

Well, all the information you need can be found at https://www.pledgeme.co.nz/Crowd/Details/432 where packages range from $5NZ through to $2000NZ.

For everyone in Australia, that means that at the time of writing this article the Kiwis are only asking you to pledge $3.90….I’ve paid for a more expensive coffee!

For your kind pledge, the NZIHL are willing to give back depending on what kind of donation you pledge.  The goodies range from on air recognition to jerseys, as well as season and game passes.

There is also an option to become a major sponsor of the event for the princely sum of just $2000NZ (that’s just over $1500 in real money – bargain!!) where you will all of the following:

  • E-mail confirmation of the link to the feed
  • Naming rights to the live stream
  • Watermark logo in the corner of the screen for the entire game
  • Repeated blessings from the commentary team
  • Full screen thank you graphic during period breaks
  • Thanks in the national newsletter including links to your product or service
  • Full 2013 NZIHL season pass (including the Grand Final, Skate Of Origin and Trans-Tasman Champions League)
  • Signed NZIHL team jersey of your choice.
As with anything, there is a catch….In this case, the only catch is that the clock is running and there is only a couple of days left to place your pledge.
The Ice Hockey communities of Australia and New Zealand have already come together this year with the running of the TTCL…let’s all dip into our pockets and get the NZIHL Grand Final Live Stream up and running and remember Australian readers…..it’s cheaper for us!
