VENUE & DATE :: 19th of January 2013 at Iceworld Boondall, Brisbane

LAST TIME :: 17/11/2012 Ice def. Goannas 7-0, 18/11/2012 Ice def. Goannas 5-2 at Medibank Icehouse

WHAT’S WHAT :: Melbourne Ice has started the season strong, winning all of their games bar one against Adelaide Adrenaline in the opening round. While the Brisbane Goannas continue to fight hard every round, they have come up unsuccessful so far this season. With the fresh start, after the Christmas break the Goannas will be looking to place a win on the board at home, while Melbourne Ice remain keen to maintain their top spot.

WHO’S WHO :: Improving each round, the Brisbane Goanna’s have displayed a strong attacking side with Lisa McMahon and Melinda White scoring well each week. Noticeably, it was Melanie Brogan’s hat-trick in Round 3’s game against the Adrenaline proved to be some added momentum for the Goanna’s.

For the Melbourne Ice, they continue to grow in both their attacking and defensive play, with Goalies, Georgina Carroll and Courtney Rea stepping up to the challenge each week. With the likes of Frances McPhail, Rylie Padjen and Shona Green dominating the forward line week in week out, the Ice will be hard to stop.

WE THINK :: Even though, Melbourne Ice don’t hold home ice advantage, their determination to maintain their top place in the standings will give them the added edge they need to take the points. Having said this, it would be silly to underestimate the rising power and skill level of the Brisbane Goanna’s, as they return from the break fresh-faced and more ambitious than ever for their first win of the season.
