Brisbane Bandits down Perth Heat in extra innings

An ejection, a very large strikezone and numerous missed opportunities were the story of tonights game, seeing the Brisbane Bandits defeat the Perth Heat in the 11th inning.

Perth Heat DH Tim Smith was ejected in the 5th inning for arguing strikes, a big blow to the home side.

Home plate umpire Ryan Harder continued to call a very large strikezone, frustrating the batters who knew they would be thrown from the game after the Smith ejection.

The Heat continued to leave runners on base throughout the whole game, not coming through in clutch situations in the 9th, 10th an 11th innings.

Perth Heat short stop Joey Wong said the team will mainly work on their situational hitting throughout the rest of the series.

“We had plenty of opportunities to put the game away and just weren’t getting that big hit,” he said.

“There has been a few series now where we’ve had opportunities to score throughout the game and it’s just not falling for us.

“We’ll work on our situational hitting, we’re swinging the bats well and had a lot of hard outs tonight.”

Catch the next game of the series Friday the 13th of December at 7:20pm AWST and 10:20pm AEDT.
